Author: Tinny
Maybe there are some golfers are left handed players. But golf equipment  is most designed for right handed, so if you are a left handed golfer I feel a little bit sorry for you. Fortunately, there are more and more brands and various golf clubs that you can choose, and you can select the one that fits you best. There are some tips for left handed golfers. They many improve your game if you read this carefully, and do these things.
The first thing that I want to is that you should choose the right clubs for you. All golfers know that golf clubs are the most important thing in the game, if you use a unsuitable clubs, maybe that will effect your game badly.

The second is the backswing. I see many left handed golfer who sway instead of turning during the backswing. Power is created by the amount of resistance between your shoulder turn and hip turn, and in order to do that you have to turn your shoulders while restricting hip turn. If you sway on the ball you cannot do this! I would recommend going to the range, and working on turning behind the ball. After you get used to it, you will be amazed at your improvement.
The next one I want to say is that you should make sure that when you reach the top of the backswing, which your club is not across the line. Again, I tend to see this more in left handed golfers than right handed players, and it really will kill your golf swing. My advice is that when you get near the top of the swing, you may lay the club off a while, because this will put you in the right position. Now, you must evaluate your golf swing, because not all left handed players do this. This is a good tip for left handed players.

The last one I want to share with you is that do not scoop the ball at impact. A lot of golfers did these thins, and it absolutely not a good action. Because you do not have to help the ball in the air, just the club need to do the work! If you hit the ball with a descending blow, you will impart some backspin on the golf, and as a result you will hit longer and straighter shots.

What is the best set of golf clubs for a left handed beginner?
I want to purchase my first set of golf clubs. I have not been golfing too many times but I am pretty athletic and a quick learner. I am not trying to be a pro but would like to have fun. I usually spend a little more than average on my sporting equipment because usually you can get better quality and if nothing else at least it makes you more confident. I want to spend around $1000.00 on clubs and I am wondering what else I should buy shoes, bag, glove, etc. I would also like to know the basics when it comes to club selection, offset, shaft length, stiffness, etc. Someone who could summerize for me would be great!!!
left handed?
If you were left-handed (Or if you are), do you think you would feel oppressed by the right hand dominated world?
Personally, being a southpaw myself, I have faced many issues with the world. In 2nd and 3rd grade, I was force to write with my right hand, and forced to rewrite most of my work because of sloppinesbas. (luckily, the teacher was fired for beating a kid with a yardstick instead of sending them to the principal.)
In 7th grade PE, when golf was the subject, I was forced to walk laps instead because the school couldn’t afford the proper equipment. Baseball is also a sport problem because a hit would always send the ball strait to first base.
Writing is a problem because our hand blocks what we wright and smears the ink. And when holding a pencil, the writing on the side is upside down for us. (maybe my OCD is acting up, but it sucks!)
Then there is the scissor problem. Hold any pair of scissors in the left hand, and the plastic digs into your flesh…
I am left-handed but play right because it was easier for me to learn that way and club selection is greater. Golfmith has an excellent selection of right and left handed clubs though. They also have a golf simulator that tests your swing-that will help determine what kind of clubs you need. Stiff versus flex, speed rating etc. Even though I am a lady, I have a very fast swing speed of 125+ mph so I need a very stiff graphite shaft so I chose a men’s set (Nickent). I find that graphite shafts are more forgiving than steel. I have been playing almost everyday for 3 yrs and my game has changed so much that I am glad I waited to invest more money on clubs until I was able to understand what my needs were better.
I’m a left-handed writer. I take pride in the uniqueness of my hand domination. However, when it comes to all other activies, I work with my right hand. I bowl, throw a ball, use scissors. Now being a teacher, my palm is always green (from overhead markers.) but oh well….
It sounds like you have a lot of negativity with your “southpaw” status…but take pride in knowing that statistically, southpaws make more money than their right handed counterparts ;o)
Do you think some of the common golf equipment today is USGA-legal?
I see all these characters with enormous drivers and exotic metals and remember there are USGA rules about certain limits on equipment. For example, you can’t have a club that plays left- or right-handed, unless a putter. But is is legal to have a driver the size of a volkswagen?
Prefer the small sleek kind myself.
yeah they have very restricive rules about that. basically they want all the clubs to be the same the only difference should be the player. and yeah the kong will increase your drive but its not really you hitting that far its the driver.
im the opposite. im left handed in everything except for sports
The answer is “161.6123 / sm” . I could be wrong.
Sports……………?
I am Right handed in writing and stuff but in sports like golf and hockey i am left handed and always have to use left handed equipment….
Is this normal?
Sample Proportion, Help?
A manufacturer of golf equipment wishes to estimate the number of left-handed golfers. How
large a sample is needed in order to be 90% confident that the sample proportion will not differ
from the true proportion by more than 2%? A previous study indicates that the proportion of
left-handed golfers is 10%.
