the concept of golf club aerodynamics. Some design engineers believe that if you improve the speed at which a clubhead moves through the air, it will produce more ball speed.
Adams Golf is pushing the aerodynamics discussion with its wind-tunnel-designed Speedline driver (0, adamsgolf.com) and its 46-inch shaft. Other companies have been researching the concept for the past decade. Callaway has made changes to the shape of its FT-9 and FT-iQ(0/0, callawaygolf.com) to improve clubhead speed.
The idea is that, at the same swing speed, a driver with a better aerodynamic shape will move faster than a driver with a poor aerodynamic shape, like the recent squarish drivers that have pushed the USGA's dimension limits. Designers continue to debate this theory and whether other performance areas (stability on off-center hits, for example) might be sacrificed.

"We've had stronger correlations of a noticeable performance improvement with aerodynamics than with moment of inertia," says Scott Burnett, director of advanced product development at Adams. Burnett says streamlining the clubhead shape and pushing up the crown slightly are two keys. Callaway designers have seen the aerodynamic dangers of extreme head shapes, but they say the solution isn't simple because of the clubhead's complex movement during the swing.
"Even the best NASA, Boeing, Formula One aerodynamicists will tell you this is a very difficult problem," says Alan Hocknell, Callaway's vice president of innovation and advanced design. Balancing the aerodynamic drag that comes with head size, against the increases in off-center hit performance that come with such size, is one of many tradeoffs we analyze.
Some companies are trying to increase speed through face construction and shaft length and weight. TaylorMade has attempted to do this with its new taylormade r9 460 driver (below). "Aerodynamics is one component," says Benoit Vincent, TaylorMade's chief technical officer.

yeah they have very restricive rules about that. basically they want all the clubs to be the same the only difference should be the player. and yeah the kong will increase your drive but its not really you hitting that far its the driver.
How is golf equipment(Drivers, Irons, Balls) supplied to retailers? And how do I find these suppliers?
Retailers have accounts with suppliers (wholesalers) such as Callaway, Mizuno, Taylor Made, Ping, etc. The retailer has an outside sales rep and an inside sales rep assigned to their account (these reps work in specific territories) and they place their orders through them. Those reps also service the account by conducting monthly inventory counts of their products and ordering what is know as “filler” to replenish what has been sold.
What is a good place to buy golf equipment (Drivers, Woods, Irons, Hybrid etc.) in Buffalo, USA?
Either one of the Dick’s Sporting Goods, the Pro Shop in the Brighton Golf Dome.
Do you think some of the common golf equipment today is USGA-legal?
I see all these characters with enormous drivers and exotic metals and remember there are USGA rules about certain limits on equipment. For example, you can’t have a club that plays left- or right-handed, unless a putter. But is is legal to have a driver the size of a volkswagen?
Prefer the small sleek kind myself.
What is the best golf brand for each piece of equipment e.g best irons, drivers, bags, gloves, balls etc.?
So could you tell me the best brand for every piece of equipment except clothing ( but do include shoes) and also is it best to buy a set of all the same branded clubs or doesn’t it matter?
callaway golf equipment?
hi there i was thinking about getting the callaway fti square head golf driver for the new golf season. its very expensive so i was wondering if anyone in answerland has tried the club and is it any good. thanx in advance
I played it for 4 months, two falls ago. (Before it hit the market). I really liked it, except that it put the ball a little too high with a little too much spin.
Make sure that you get fit for this club. They made it ~1 degree weaker than the loft listed.
